Cathia A Moon is a PhD candidate in International Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University and a 5+ year experienced crime analyst at the University of New Mexico. Her research examines the intersections of community resilience, collective efficacy, participatory decision-making, and empowerment in a community context. Her forthcoming dissertation explores resilience frameworks in
marginalized communities with an emphasis on community efficacy and empowerment. She has presented research at the Peace and Justice Studies Association, the Atlanta Peace Education Initiative: Spring 2021 AGSC Collaboratorium, the Association for Conflict Resolution: 2020 Vision Focusing Resolutions in an Imperfect Time Conference, and the Southern Criminal Justice Association. Her article, “First-time mediator stories: Keys to better training and mediator preparation” was published in Mediation Theory and Practice (2021). In addition to her academic research, she is committed to bridging the gap between scholarship and practice, emphasizing the value of community-based approaches to public safety and conflict resolution.
